MHFA England launches new Mental Health First Aid course

Mental Health England have updated the two-day Mental Health First Aid course. The new course, MHFAider® course, has been development with the First Aider in mind. The course now includes more emphasis on supporting the MHFAider® giving the delegate access to; resources and ongoing learning opportunities, MHFAiders® can help organise their roles with reminders and secure conversation journaling, to safely reflect on their work, the MHFAider Support App® which works to support the MHFAiders’® own mental health – the resources within can teach critical self-care skills, with the emotion tracker function allowing them to chart their own wellbeing – this app provides 24/7 text support for when MHFAiders® are feeling overwhelmed or need guidance for certain situations, and MHFAiders® have access to regular online events that provide further learning and support, allowing them to continue to perform their role confidently and effectively, long after receiving their initial training.

 

During this 2-day MHFAider® course delegates will develop an understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing. They will also acquire skills to spot the symptoms of mental health issues. The course will help delegates become confident in supporting a person in distress with on going support for the Mental First Aider.
