Level 2 Award (2079-14) in F-Gas and ODS Regulations Category IV
Successful delegates will have the knowledge required to undertake leak checking of stationary refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat pump equipment which are classified as either fluorinated (F) gases or ozone depleting substances (ODS) to meet category IV theoretical requirements. The deleagte will also become aware of the National and European regulations which legislate in the areas of refrigerant and other greenhouse gas emissions to atmosphere.

Awarding Body
Objectives:
Successful delegates will have the knowledge required to undertake leak checking of stationary refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat pump equipment that contains which are classified as either fluorinated (F) gases or ozone depleting substances (ODS) to meet category IV theoretical requirements. The delegate will also become aware of the National and European regulations which legislate in the areas of refrigerant and other greenhouse gas emissions to atmosphere.
Course Duration:
Course duration 2 days, dependent upon experience.
Who should attend?
Those requiring an entry level qualification into leak detection of stationary refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat pump equipment.
Course Content:
Delegates will gain knowledge required to undertake leak checking of stationary refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat pump equipment that contains refrigerants which are classified as either fluorinated (F) gases or ozone depleting substances (ODS) meeting Category IV theoretical requirements. The delegate will also become aware of the National and European regulations which legislate in the areas of refrigerant and other greenhouse gas emissions to atmosphere.
The course will cover Unit 400 – Handling fluorinated gases and ozone depleting substances (category 4 personnel), including;
- Identify basic standard units
- Identify the causes and effects of global warming and climate change
- Identify causes and effects of ozone depletion
- Identify stationary refrigerant, air-conditioning and heat pump system leakage risk
- Identify the hazards and safe working practices for the leak checking of stationary refrigerant, air-conditioning and heat pump systems
- Undertake leak checking and record keeping
Outcomes:
Successful delegates will demonstrate understanding of how to work to legal requirements, work safely, work with due regard to the local and global environment, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and reduce energy usage to meet the theoretical requirements of Category IV regulations. Delegates will be able demonstrate the application of practical skills to undertake leak checking and record keeping.
The course will help delegates progress towards 2079-11, (for Category 1 Personnel) qualification.
Delegate preparation:
There are no set entry requirements for this qualification. However, delegates must have a good understanding of spoken and written English.
Refreshments:
A buffet style lunch will be provided, along with refreshments when delivered at a Sanctus Training venue.
