UKATA Management of Asbestos in Soils & Made Ground
This course is ideal for those responsible for managing sites in which the soil analysis report has identified asbestos containing materials within the soils on site; or where ACMs could be encountered within the soils on site.
1 day with previous UKATA Asbestos Awareness or 1 ½ days (subject to Training Needs Analysis)
Who should attend?
This course is for those responsible for managing sites in which the soil analysis report has identified asbestos containing materials within the soils on site; or where ACMs could be encountered within the soils on site. Including clients, client’s agent, principal designer, principal contractor, HSEQ managers/advisors (including any consultants fulfilling these roles and responsibilities), and any contractor’s employees responsible for excavations, on-site remediation, site investigations and the disposal of waste from site.
The course will allow delegates to gain knowledge of the following:
- Theoretical skills to manage work on sites (brownfield and greenfield sites) which have been identified as having asbestos containing materials within the soils; or in which asbestos containing materials are likely to be present
- An understanding of the appropriate action that must be taken in the event of non-notifiable and notifiable asbestos containing materials being identified/recorded within the soil analysis report; and or being identified on site
- An understanding of the procedures that must be implemented in the event that previously unidentified ACMs are found during site operations
- Discussions regarding re-use of contaminated soils, or off-site disposal of impacted wastes. Includes an overview of Remediation Strategies, CL:AIRE DowCOP, Materials Management Plans, Waste Classification Technical Guidance and Duty of Care
The course will assist delegates to understand their legal responsibilities for managing, remediating, re-using or removal asbestos impacted soil. The course will also highlight the general policies, procedures and frameworks that need to applied where asbestos is, or possibly could be present within soils and made ground.
Delegates will ideally hold a UKATA Asbestos Awareness certificate which has been obtained in the past 6 months.
A buffet style lunch along with refreshments will be provided when delivered at a Sanctus Training venue.
