This course is suitable for all personnel who work at height and wear a harness, including operatives, supervisors and managers and others who control such work.
Course Content:
The aim if this course is to provide delegates with the knowledge and practical skills required to safely inspect and work with a Harness and Fall Arrest equipment.
This course incorporates, fun, dynamic and practical training methods to optimise learner recall.
Delegates will be able to understand the definition of working at height and the hierarchy of control measures to be implemented. Emphasis will be placed on the principles of prevention and reducing the risks.
The hazards involved with working at height will be investigated and delegates will gain a good knowledge of best practice.
The course will cover key safety points for harnesses including; hazards and precautions relating to harness use ; rescue requirements and options; Locate, identify and understand the major components of the harness and lanyard (fall arrest and/or restraint); how to select and inspect the correct harness and lanyard (fall arrest and/or restraint); conduct safety checks and emergency procedures. Delegates will also know how to correctly fit and remove the harness and lanyard; Demonstrate an understanding of how to maintain and store a harness and lanyard; carry out end of work inspections.
Outcomes:
On completion the delegate will understand all aspects of working at height and harness safety. Certificates of Attendance will be awarded. It is recommended that delegates refresh their qualification every 3 years.
Delegate Preparation:
There is no requirement for delegates to have any previous knowledge of working at height or harness safety, meaning it is suitable for beginners.
