HSE have issued a new Asbestos Survey Guide which changes the way that surveys are undertaken. The old Type 1, Type 2 and Type 3 surveys are replaced by Management surveys, Refurbishment surveys and Demolition surveys. For more information visit www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/priced/hsg264.pdf
QUICK HITCH ALERT!
There has been an increase in excavator accidents involving loaded buckets falling from the machine and striking other workers, sometimes resulting in death. Excavator operators who hold CPCS Competence cards (blue cards) awarded on ‘grandfather’s rights’ may not have had training on quick hitch devices. HSE is campaigning to raise awareness to the fact that some operators may require specific quick hitch training. CPCS are offering free training material and a free tool box talk.
